Background

Benson New York is the third generation of a renowned european knit producer who moved to New York City after 60 years of producing knits. New York would allow Mr and Mrs Benson to pursue their dream in fashion by launching a new kind of brand.  The creation of the Benson brand was to allow for comfortable yet casual wear, while still still being fashionable.  The inspiration was for customers to have Benson clothing become their go-to items, for all activities such as dressing down for the movies or even going on a date wearing a cashmere sweater.  They wanted to have reasonable priced clothing, while still using the best ethically sourced materials and labor from around the world.

The Fabrics

Cashmere: sourced from Italy's Mongolian Goats manufacturers, collected in the spring which is when goats naturally shed. This cashmere is completely pure, unlike other cashmere that is sourced from Afghanistan and Iran.

Wool: imported from Italy, because they are the best in the industry

Cottons: in Benson clothing are either American Pima Cotton or Aegean Pima Cotton. You can feel the quality of this cotton as soon as the garment is worn or touched. By using 100% cotton this allows for the garment to be breathable.

Manufacturing

Garments are manufactured in a factory that features the Ecotech Environmentally Friendly textiles Certificate.  With this manufacturing certification, customers know that Benson products are created in a place where employees matter with safe practices and modern manufacturing equipment and techniques.

Clothes are first washed before distribution, with pure water, known as an eco wash.
